Wheels For Change – Give Bikes to Kids in Care

This July Together We Rise is starting the Wheels for Change campaign. The goal is to raise money to buy and ship 120 new Schwinn Bikes to kids in foster care nationwide during the month of July.

You might be wondering, why bikes? Well, we have a lot to say on this topic!

Why Bikes?

We have been on a mission to change the way kids experience the foster care system. One way we help is by giving children in care experiences and tangible gifts. We want children in care to have the same opportunities as any other child.

Time and time again, we have seen how bikes change lives. Bikes give children more than transportation, they help give them a sense of independence and joy. Think of how you felt as a child learning how to ride a bike. The wind in your hair, the freedom to move how you wanted, at speeds you could only imagine. We want all kids in care to have those memories.

Foster Parents in Support of Wheels for Change

Giving bikes to kids in foster care has been a Together We Rise initiative for over a decade. Thanks to our individual and corporate sponsors we have gifted 1000’s of bikes to foster youth nationwide. One of the reasons we continue to work on this effort is the positive responses we get from children in care and their families.
