Popular comedian and former foster youth, Tiffany Haddish, is nominated for a 2020 Emmy Award for her special Black Mitzah. While this is a huge honor, she already considers herself a winner. Tiffany Haddish advocates for foster care youth and during quarantine spends time on Zoom calls with children in group homes.

Acts of Kindness

Tiffany is always giving back the foster care community. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, she talked about her Emmy nomination and how she has spent quarantine.

She gushed about her friends at the group home. The children came together and sent her handmade cards to congratulate her on the nomination. Tiffany received 40 cards and in her mind, that was greater an honor than the Emmy.

“I went to the mailbox, and there were all these handwritten notes from foster youth that I’ve been talking to over quarantine,” Haddish told Fallon. “It was 40 messages — 40 little handwritten notes and cards — and they drew on them and colored them.”

“That was the best award ever,” Haddish said. “Like when I get down, I just open those up and read them. It’s like, that’s better than any trophy I could ever get, to be recognized by our youth, our future.”
