Foster Care In The United States
Foster care in the United States is a difficult reality. Over 400,000 youth are in the foster care system, with 1 out of every 4 becoming homeless within 4 years of aging out. Additionally, 80% of inmates in U.S. prisons have spent time in foster care and less than 50% of foster youth receive a high school diploma. These statistics make it clear that the current system is failing youth in foster care, putting their futures at risk.
